A scroll compressor is a volumetric compression compressor consisting of a moving scroll and a static scroll as its compression components. The compressor features structural elements that optimize gas flow through the housing while minimizing oil entrainment. Gas enters the casing and flows upward to reduce gas streaming toward the oil. The motor utilizes sleeves with upper and lower holes to direct airflow toward the stator motor's end turns.
Proper positioning of the suction inlet relative to gas passages between the stator and motor housing is critical. The inlet is designed so incoming gas enters a channel that divides flow into upward and downward directions, while other channels permit upward flow only. Additional features like suction baffles, diffusers, streamlined counterweights, and suction line oil traps further separate oil and minimize entrainment.
